Who is Orig3n and how has Noom partnered with them?
Orig3n is a DNA research company based in Boston. Unlike other DNA companies, their focus is on how your genes influence your health and wellness as opposed to your ancestry. Their kits focus on the role your genes play in your efforts to get healthy. You can check out their website here.
Noom has partnered with Orig3n to bring our users a unique kit. We’ve taken genes from a few of Orig3n’s other kits focusing on nutrition and fitness and combined them into a Noom-specific kit you can’t get anywhere else.
Tell me more about this Noom specific kit.
The Noom Weight Loss DNA Tests are 16-gene profiles that give you unprecedented insights into how your genetics may influence your weight, ability to lose weight, metabolism, sweet tooth, and cravings. With this data, you can gain a better understanding of your body’s biological makeup.
What is the process of receiving my DNA kit?
You will need to purchase the DNA kit either when you are signing up for Noom or from the add-on store within the Noom app. You will be charged immediately for the DNA kit so we can get the kit to you as soon as possible. At this point, Orig3n takes over!
You will receive an email from Orig3n explaining when to expect your DNA kit and what to do when you receive it within two business days of your purchase. Be sure to check your spam and promotions folders! You will also need to download Orig3n’s app: LifeProfile.
Within a week of purchasing, you should receive your DNA kit in the mail. Just follow the steps outlined in Orig3n’s email to register your swabs, take the sample, and return them to Orig3n for processing!
When will I receive my results?
You should receive your results within 6-8 weeks of Orig3n receiving your sample. You will receive a confirmation email from Orig3n that they have received your swabs with more details.
Will my DNA kit results appear in my Noom app?
Your DNA kit results will not appear within the Noom app. They will instead appear within Orig3n’s LifeProfile app so make certain you have this downloaded!
How do my DNA kit results affect my Noom Program?
Your DNA kit results will not directly impact your Noom program. Instead, they are intended to be another resource for you to have when making decisions on health journey. Your results will not appear within the Noom app and your articles will not change due to your results. They are meant purely to be informative to you! You can share your results with your goal specialist to talk about how they might change your goals, however, your goal specialist is not a DNA researcher so they will not be able to provide more insight than Orig3n already has in their app!
What should I do if I haven’t gotten my kit?
You’ll need to reach out directly to Orig3n. Orig3n handles all shipping for the kits and will have the best information for you, including tracking numbers. You can reach out to Orig3n through this form. Noom does not have any insight into your shipping information.
What should I do if I haven’t gotten my results?
You will need to reach out to Orig3n in this case as well. Noom is not at all involved in processing the DNA kits so we do not have any information on where your results are in the testing process. Not to worry, however, as Orig3n does! They should be able to provide you with an update on your results. If you are still within your 6-8 week timeframe, we recommend waiting until that time is up to reach out. Please use this form to reach out to Orig3n!
I’d Like a refund for my DNA kit.
We understand that sometimes you change your mind! If you haven’t sent your swabs into Orig3n, please reach out to us directly through our Noom Contact Support Form.
If you have already sent your swabs into Orig3n, you will need to contact them directly to start the refund process. They will need to provide you with the documentation around properly disposing of your sample. You can reach them using this contact form.
